Serverbeach Review

I have been using Serverbeach for three years and I am very satisfied. Initially I used them because they had better servers than EV1 and EV1 forums were rife with complaints. Since then I have stayed with them because of the consistently good service. I can recommend them in good faith, if your looking for a full server you should use them.

Features of Serverbeach

Excellent support forums - These are a must for any self managed hosting company. The support forums are attended to by their technicians (search for QT) to ensure that they are aware of issues. The forums are full of expert instructions, tutorials, and advice on administering servers from the other customers of Serverbeach.

Easy to use control panel - The control panel is very easy to use and straight forward. Most services are with in one click of the control panel. The DNS management was very straightforward and flexible, you can use their DNS servers, have them slave off of your server, or use your own DNS servers.

Above Average Servers - Serverbeach from the very beginning differentiated itself by offering only quality servers. Since the time they have opened they have continued to add better servers. They also have rounded out their lower end choices that are great for testing and development.

Secure backups - Serverbeach has an affordable and local backup solution via ftp on their local network. This makes the backup of your servers vital information very easy.

Emergency Shell Access - If you screw up your server your going to want access to it asap and not want to wait on a technician. With their “Rapid Rescue” program you can get access to your server immediately with out help from a technician and regardless of the state of the operating system.

Things I look for in a web host.

Reliability - In the three years I have been with Serverbeach I have been satisfied with the reliability. I have experienced two outages at my datacenter. The first lasted less then 6 hours the second only lasted about a half an hour. Both times the company was forthcoming with the details and issued refunds. Twice in three years is ok in my book. The servers have always been better than other self service hosts and I have never had any server failures.

Prompt Service - Response to a ticket is average compared to other hosts but they are very prompt when you start asking around in the forums. Once your ticket is answered the techs are very thorough, polite , and patient.

Few legitimate complaints - I always search Google for complaints for a host before I open an account. For Serverbeach I found there were no legitimate complaints (all the complaints were from people who didn’t know how to admin a server) beyond the two outages I have already noted.

I recommend you use Serverbeach if you need a server. If you click this link you can save $100 on your sigup with them.

Thanks for the un-solicited endorsement, Scott. We’re glad you’ve been such a loyal customer. If you’re ever in the San Antonio area, come by the office for a tour and a chance to meet the support team.

Cheers!
