Whats this blog about ?

Web Professor  is a website about online media written by Scott Horne.

Who are you?

My name is Scott Horne. I have been involved in web development since 1999, starting with an assignment to the webmaster position for my Navy unit. At the time I took the position I was only interested in getting the office associated with it. After being introduced to the web [ and getting my own office, a nice accomplishment for an enlisted guy ] most of my focus has been in dynamic application development. I have become more interested in the publishing and marketing side of the web, this interest has intensified to the point where it is my primary interest. Thats enough about me I’m pretty boring really.

So you are an SEO expert

Expert is such a inexact word, used improperly it could mean anything.
I approach my SEO from a programmers point of view. I ask myself things like “Can I extract data from the search engines to determine whats going on?” or “ Can I automate this task or that ?”. I am a tool maker.
So do I know about SEO ? Yes but I am an expert in my corner of it not all of it. Think of like a car mechanic that specializes in car stereos systems. He can fix your cars carburetor but he’d rather be installing that kick ass custom sound system.
Now that we have that covered if you need help with your online marketing. Please consider me I bring a lot to that table and have access to some super people. Best of all if you need a cool tool to get the job done I can make it.

Internet marketing is where its at !

I love reading about marketing and business and applying the things I learn to my business. The internet is a still a new frontier. On that frontier exists the ability for someone to start a profitable business based on know how, hard work, and cunning that is not as true in the offline world.

You are a professor?

No!! I have a great respect for the academic community and I am not a professor. To be honest I got this name because I thought it conveyed how I love to study & teach about internet related topics.

Your in the Navy? What did you do in the Navy?

No I got out of the service in 2002. My primary job was to be a mechanic on submarine’s. My particular specialty was focused on caring for and operating the equipment for the nuclear reactor. After I was an instructor for advanced engineering topics for mechanics and had a secondary duty of maintaining the web applications that were deployed prior to my arrival.

I have a question about the Navy, Can I ask you?

Sure thing. I love talking about my experiences in the Navy. Not to be trite but it was one of the worst and best experiences of my life.

Personal stuff that makes me quirky and oh so original

I love:
Listening to Debussy and Eazy E
Reading the Wall Street Journal
Practicing Yoga
Feeding my Koi fish
Joking around with my son.
Talking to my wife

I love how you chose a standard blog theme which matches your no bullshit attitude, very refreshing place.

Thanks for you help lately… I’ll keep you in mind with my next mysql/php project - an overhaul of a working project with an existing, contracted client (the best kind).

Hi, I’m trying to reach you to discuss some errors I’m getting with your otherwise excellent typo generator tool. It seems your inbox is full :( so I’m turning here.

Pls, let me know how to get in touch with you, if you have time.

Thanks, and best wishes,
Ray

I wouldn’t know it looked like a hyped pyramid scheme to me so I avoided it.
