What did you learn in 2008?
For me it sunk in that participating in the search marketing “community” for the most part was a waste of time. Everything that I was going to learn from that I had already absorbed, all the connections I could make were already made. For the most part the search marketing community just regurgitated the same crap over and over this year.
Were there a few new things? Sure.. but I get them now by perusing SEL highlights once a week or so. All the good stuff I’m learning by spending my time actually trying to make money and interesting things.
Hat tip to Aaron for making the most interesting marketing idea work this year. Go check out his forum and pay to be a part of it for a few months you won’t regret it. After spending some time on there I think paid communities are the way to go. It keeps out the noise and rabble… the only detriment of the model is it collects fanboys who hiss at any criticism of the leader.
