The first time I saw my Mom as a mere human

Filed under: Misc — Scott @ 8:23 am

We’d always had problems but they usually stemmed from my mom being super human. She raised my brother and I by herself in California working fulltime as a critical care nurse. She did twelve hour rotating shifts at the same time finished her masters degree it was crushingly hard but she pulled through. She dealt with my violent behavior and loss of self control but she pulled through. She weathered several husbands that broke her bones, put her in the hospital, and cheated on her but she pulled through.

While she was dealing with that she put clothes on us… she taught me to cook real meals by third grade.. she believed me when I dreamed about being a pilot… she always found some time to rub my head after long shifts and listen to my rambling… she took me to Mount Palomar, Julian, to see the Spruce Goose, Disneyland… she paid for me to go to private school… she took me back in after I ran away for a year, swore at her, and argued…

I don’t think I’ll ever see her as a  mere human. I remember when I realized she was mortal and had flaws, illnesses, and problems but thats another thing altogether I think.

She’s the greatest mom I ever could hope for and I was a shit of a son.

I love you Mom.
