Loren you’re so far off the mark with the Youtube ad thing. You think Youtube advertising is a threat to text based bloggers because of video on mobile devices? Youtubes advertising success of failure will have nothing to do with mobile. Mobile devices by their very nature are small which had implications on mobile advertising. The number one implication is mobile users aren’t going to stand for video advertising. Displaying an advertisement will take up too much real estate and just annoy the user. Wheres the long term profit in annoying users?
Secondly this will bite into a text based bloggers bottom line? How on earth would it do that? You have pointed out before how rare (bloggers/vloggers/whatevers) are that can make worthwhile content. Thats not suddenly going to change anytime soon so why should any one be afraid? Hell I welcome more competition. If you have something to offer welcome to the marketplace, there’s enough money for everyone thats creative and driven.

For someone who has written about grammar in the past, I am shocked about this post.
“Loren Your Wrong Wrong Wrong” and “Loren your so far off the mark”
Your…
Your post.
Your Cat.
Your Grammar Error.
You are in need of grammar checking.
You’re someone who should take his own advice.
Right now I am on my 7th drink of the evening and I could STILL spot your error a mile away. Either I am very good…. Or…..
I am not a grammar nazi, I simply listed my pet peeves you are allowed to have yours to. Just the same thanks for pointing that out. I always do that for some reason.
None other than Google executives are talking about a shift from web surfing to use of mobile devices. It is unlikely that I will read a text blog on a mobile device. It is virtually certain that I will not comment on one.
Also note that the YouTube overlay is an overlay which takes up no additional room. Thus it is perfect for the smaller screens of the mobile web. It’s almost as if Google has thought this stuff through. We’ll see if it works.
Your not getting it.. its laying over the content I am trying to watch. You can do that on a television because you can still see the content but on a cellphone your going to be blocking too much of the content.
I come back, sober, and find that you have taken my advice.
Thanks!
