Make Money with Typo Squatting

Add

Typo Squatting (verb) - Typosquatting is a form of cybersquatting which relies on the chances that a person who enters a website address into a web browser will accidentally enter an incorrect website address and be led to an alternative address which the cybersquatter owns. [1]

To make easy money with Typo Squatting all you need to do is a follow a three step process.

  1. Go to the Typo Squatter tool.
  2. Enter domain you want to find free typo’s of.
  3. Press the “Find Typo’s” button and wait for free typo domains to be listed.

Once you own the domains you will need to monetize them of course. There are several methods of doing this.

  1. Use a parking service.
  2. Put content on the domain and place ads on the site.
  3. Redirect the traffic to a site that is already monetized.

Of those methods I prefer #2 since it offers you the most control and makes it easier to defend against a WIPO action. Another tip I recommend following is to make sure you only do this for generic keyword domains and not on trademarked names. Now go make some money!

You can also use this tool to find squatters.. just select the show registered and the display whois options. :-)

It’s a nice tool Scott. Sure beats the webmasterbrain tool which doesn’t show if it’s registered or not.

Have you had much success monetizing typo domains yourself?

Yeah I have a few that are positive ROI. The nice thing about domains with even a minimal amount of type in traffic is they are easy to turn positive.

You do realise that typo squatting is illegal right?
I came across this post while googling to find a decent attorney and instead found you offering “do this illegal thing” as good advice?
wtf

Its only illegal if your using typos of a trademarked term. If its a generic phrase then your fine. IE. micorsoft.com a misspelling of microsoft.com would get your in trouble but frecars.com a misspelling of freecars.com would be fine.
