Free Directory Submission

The free directory submission tool allows you to quickly submit your site to hundreds of directories. The tool easily saves me ten hours, which at my rates would be around six hundred dollars, everytime I use it. Doing the monotonous and painful routine of search engine submittals via the search then cut and paste method absolutely sucks, which is why I put this together.

By now your saying "Great Scott! Hows it work!" [har har pun intended]. You install a tool called RoboForm and configured it on your computer. Roboform allows you to automate form filling and submittals. You'll need the pro version to use the Directory Submission tool in a way that will save signifigent time but get the free version install it and try it out. You'll get the idea how its will save you time in short order. The thing is though the 3 custom field limitation is one shy of what most directory submittal forms need for a complete entry, annoying I know but the upgrade is worth it.

Ok are you a Pro and already have it and its configured for directory submissions ? Then click here for instructions on how to use the directory submission tool. If not then read on.

Install and configure RoboForm

  1. Download Roboform [downloads executable] or or go to the Roboform website and get the free Roboform download.
  2. Set up a Robo Form profile
    • You do this by clicking the Roboform button on your browser, a drop down should appear. About 2/3rds of the way down will be a "Profile" label. When you mouse over it you'll see "New", click that and selct a name ( I use "Directories" ).
  3. Start a new Identity in you Roboform profile. Again click the roboform button → select Identity → new
  4. Click the "Person Tab" and fill in the pertinent data for directory submissions
  5. Important Part: This is the part that makes life so easy. Adding the custom fields for your directory submission. If you have the free version you can only have three custom fields so you're screwed until you upgrade but try it out anyways to see how it works and it'll still save you some time.

    Click the custom tab and fill in the fields with the indicated values. You can cut and paste.

And now finally the "fun" part.

Use the Free Directory Submission tool

  1. Allow popups from Web-professor.net, the tool pops open 10 windows to 10 different directories at a time. So no pop ups then no tool. Most browsers will automatically give you the option of allowing popups when the page tries to serve them.
  2. Click the link to start.
  3. Allow all popups to start and resolve.
  4. Navigate to the category that is appropriate for your site.
  5. Find and click the "Submit URL" button or its equivelent.
  6. Click the RoboForm profile that applies to fill all the form fields.
  7. Type in any captcha or Turing test if they require it and submit.
  8. Close the window and repeat steps until all popups closed.
  9. Click "Next Set" for the next ten directories. Repeat all this until it tells you your done.
